Delivery app Rappi announced new security poland mobile database for customers and delivery people last Wednesday (2).

One of the initiatives to prevent fraud is a facial recognition system activated whenever a delivery person starts their service.

The new feature is another layer of a process that already takes place on the platform during login: after the service provider includes a code sent to them via WhatsApp, they take a selfie that is compared with a photo in a database.

Competing apps such as iFood and Uber Eats also rely on photo ID verification using automated systems . The difference is that both companies perform the check from time to time.

In both cases, the app can randomly ask delivery drivers to take a selfie before accepting a trip or going online.

Uber has been using the system since 2017 and iFood started implementing it about six months ago.

Rappi also announced that it will block the accounts of delivery people who do not comply with the terms and conditions of the application or for failing to comply with security protocols.

The facial recognition system will help prevent new accounts from being opened by these people.

The company also revealed it is working with a startup that performs criminal background checks and with authorities to verify the identity of delivery drivers on the street.
