August is the month of photography, since 99 acres phone number data the official announcement of its invention took place in this month, on August 19, 1839. We take advantage of the event to learn more about the work of architectural photographers.

Within photography, there are different branches that work on different subjects, and professionals in the sector tend to specialise in order to maintain a fixed network of contacts. This is also the case for architectural photographers, who intend to dedicate a large part of their photographic work to recording urban spaces and buildings.
Architectural photography is generally aimed at the projects of architects or architectural studios, construction companies and real estate agencies that want to present the works they have built.

Photographers can also work for magazines specialising in architecture, decoration and design. And the most profitable, without a doubt, are photographs for companies dedicated to catering: hotels, restaurants, museums, cultural and tourist spaces.

To carry out an architectural photographic work, it is necessary to take into account some aspects related to space: scale, size, perspective, volume, etc. For this reason, resources that offer this spatial notion are often used, either by including elements in the photographs such as people, or through lighting (taking into account changes in light during the day), or by using electronic devices that help in the measurement of some parameters and avoid distortions.

The equipment used is important, as large prints are often required, and image definition definitely counts in your favour. Therefore, medium format cameras are widely used. Other accessories such as tripods, spirit level, polarising filter, remote shutter and flash are also used.
Architectural photography uses different types depending on what you want to achieve. There are interior or exterior images, panoramas, virtual tours, high-resolution images, videos and aerial photography.

«The dramatization of light is the most important thing in architectural photography and often shows us the difference between an impressive photograph and a mediocre one,» said Julius Shulman , considered one of the pioneering architectural photographers. Besides Shulman, a few names stand out for their own style in architectural photography, such as Matthias Haker , Candida Höfer , Cristiano Mascaro , Fernando Guerra , among others.
