Virtual architecture is here. NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) are beginning to redefine the world of art and design towards their digital commercialization.

Although they have been around since 2013, NFTs have become popular in the wake of the cryptocurrency and crypto art boom. More and more artists are band phone number data putting their digital work up for sale and more bidders are interested in buying a virtually original piece.

Virtual originality
Thanks to the blockchain platform, artists can authenticate the originality of their digital work. That is, virtually certify that an image or video is the original. NFTs, hosted within the blockchain, are designed to offer certified, original ownership of a work that is not found in the physical world. While digital files can be copied, there will always be only one original as is the case with traditional art.

Blurring the physical world
NFTs are driving the creation of virtual worlds in which it is possible to collect things that do not physically exist. Recently, artist Andres Reisinger sold a collection of virtual furniture for almost half a million dollars through Nifty Gateway , one of the platforms that allow the purchase and sale of digital goods. The auctioned furniture can be used by bidders to create environments in virtual gaming environments. This is the case of one of them, hosting in the Minecraft world of one of the buyers.

Architecture and property
These intangible assets open up a new debate about ownership. In the world of architecture, renderings and digital images often belong to a design firm and not to a single person. This raises the issue of who will keep the profits, but also the possibility of a new source of income. Especially for smaller firms whose work is mostly theoretical. On the other hand, this will also mean the revaluation of architectural works, which are often reduced to a basic service transaction.

The future of NFTs
NFTs are speculated to be the next step in art and architecture collecting, as well as a new way of considering, valuing and displaying them, which increasingly have less to do with their monetary value and more to do with speculation and context.
