Gas boilers: reviews and inspections
The boiler inspection is mandatory every 2 years, while the complete inspection of the installation (including meter, pipes and valves) must be done every 5 years. You choose who does it.

Boiler inspection can be a headache. When should I do it? Who does it? How do I pay for it?

If these doubts have also kept you awake at night, keep reading.

Review vs. Inspection
The first thing we must do is differentiate between review and inspection:

Inspections are for general gas installations (meter, pipes, valves and seals, etc.).
The reviews are for boilers , electric water heaters and water heaters.
According to the Regulation of Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE) both are mandatory , although with different nuances. We explain them to you.

Boiler inspection
Mandatory every 2 years for appliances up to 70kW (the most common in individual installations). In the Basque Country it is mandatory every year.
The boiler owner is responsible for ensuring that the inspection is carried out on time. It can be carried out by any authorised professional, whether from the gas supplier, a boiler brand or an independent technician. You choose who carries out the inspection (compare prices before deciding).
Community boilers are checked every month. The company that the community contracts for maintenance is in charge.
Higher power boilers (>70kW) are checked once a year. Boilers up to 11 litres - once every 5 years.
Our advice: hire a maintenance service so you don't have to worry about having to do an inspection. You already have enough on your mind. It's really worth it.

Inspection of the installation
Mandatory every 5 years , except in the Basque Country where it is every 4 years.
The gas distribution company is responsible for contacting the user when the inspection is due. This will be done 3 months before the date.
The user can choose whether to carry out the review with his/her company or with any other authorized company/professional.
The distributor will send its own personnel if the deadline is exceeded and it has not yet received documentation proving that the inspection has been carried out.
Whoever does it, it is always paid through the regular gas bill. There is no need to pay in cash.
Our advice: as with boilers, it is best to hire a comprehensive maintenance service that includes both inspections.

“It is mandatory to check the boiler at least once every 2 greece whatsapp number years. The installation, once every 5.”
Gas Inspection Appointments
If you have a gas contract with Endesa , we will notify you of the inspection by sending you a letter and putting a sign in your entrance hall. Afterwards, and at least 5 days before the inspection, our technicians will contact you.

Once the appointment has been arranged, a professional will ensure that your gas installation guarantees your safety as well as energy efficiency.

Beware of scammers!
Be very careful with supposed professionals who knock on your door saying they are coming for the inspection and that they are the only authorized technician (sometimes they threaten to cut off your gas if you don't let them in).

Both the inspection and the review are procedures that are carried out in an orderly manner, with you deciding who you want to take care of it and when they have to come to your house.

What scammers do is show up brazenly , pretend to carry out the inspection/review (turning a few nuts, pressing a few buttons, etc.) and send you a bill that can reach 400 euros for faults they invent.

Scammers often target elderly people living alone, pose as government officials and demand cash. In the worst cases, the scene ends in an armed robbery.

How to avoid gas scams
Ask the technician to identify himself. His credentials must include, in addition to his certificate as an installer, the number issued by the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines, which is the competent body that controls gas installers.
