Review vs. Inspection

Inspections are for general gas installations (meter, pipes, valves and seals, etc.).
The reviews are for boilers , electric water heaters and water heaters.

Higher power boilers (>70kW) are checked once a year. Boilers up to 11 litres - once every 5 years.

Inspection of the installation
Mandatory every 5 years , except in the Basque Country where it is every 4 years.
The gas distribution company is responsible for contacting the user when the inspection is due. This will be done 3 months before the date.
The user can choose whether to carry out the review with his/her company or with any other authorized company/professional.
The distributor will send its own personnel if the deadline is exceeded and it has not yet received documentation proving that the inspection has been carried out.
Whoever does it, it is always paid through the regular gas bill. There is no need to pay in cash.

Beware of scammers!
Be very careful with supposed professionals who knock on your door saying they are coming for the inspection and that they are the only authorized technician (sometimes they threaten to cut off your gas if you don't let them in).
Both the inspection and the review are procedures that are carried out in an orderly manner, with you deciding who you want to take care of it and when they have to come to your house.
What scammers do is show up brazenly , pretend to carry out the inspection/review (turning a few nuts, pressing a few buttons, etc.) and send you a bill that can reach 400 euros for faults they invent.
Scammers often target elderly people living alone, pose as government officials and demand cash. In the worst cases, the scene ends in an armed robbery.
How to avoid gas scams
Ask the technician to identify himself. His credentials must include, in addition to his certificate as an installer, the number issued by the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines, which is the competent body that controls gas installers.
