On the first day, it is common to receive the computer you will be working with. So, it is important that you start configuring your work environment, including access to the company's systems and tools.

Configure your desktop, the browser you use, add shortcuts to specific and useful websites that can help you with your work, as well as organize the folders you will work in and save your work projects.

Optimizing and configuring your work environment is a fundamental step to improving your productivity.

Understand which DBMS and Databases are used:

Understanding which database management system ( DBMS ) will be used is important for a SQL analyst. Check whether it will be MySQL , PostgreSQL or Oracle and whether they are installed correctly.

It is also important to check whether the databases you will be line data working with are already available for you to access, and if they are not, find out about them and request access if necessary.

Initial Training in SQL Queries:

Once you have access to the database, you can start making the first basic queries to familiarize yourself with the data and information you will be working with.

Tuesday (2nd Day)
Review of Data Department Specific Documentation:

As a SQL analyst, it is essential to understand the specific documentation for the DBMS and databases used.

A very important step to take in this first week of work is to study the specific documentation for the database you are going to work with.

Having access to the data dictionary or database documentation helps you familiarize yourself with projects and work. You can request this documentation from your manager or the team in charge.

Participation in Practical Sessions to Apply SQL Queries:

It is important to get involved in SQL query analysis and practice sessions. Try to understand when these sessions happen so that you can join in, make yourself available to contribute and learn from the team.

Participating in practical sessions to apply the consultations can be interesting, even to socialize and get to know a little more about your team of coworkers.

Involvement in Introductory Meetings:

In addition to practical sessions, it is essential that you engage in introductory meetings with peers and supervisors.

Your manager will probably direct you to them, but it is recommended to ask about the existence of these meetings related to data or your specific department.

Participating in these meetings helps to better understand the work context, the activities of the areas and teams.

Starting a Simple Data Analysis Project:

If possible, you can take the opportunity to start a small data analysis project using the database and available information.

Think about how to perform these analyses, how to use your SQL knowledge to analyze this information and how this can add value to the company.

Of course, you will already have your mandatory tasks received, but thinking about other analyses that can be done beyond what is expected can make you stand out and make a positive difference.

Wednesday (Day 3)
Continuation of the Data Analysis Project:

At this point, you will already have some data analysis project underway. The ideal is to continue this analysis so that you can get some ideas, some insights and have a delivery by the end of the first week.

SQL Query Review with Team Feedback:

It is also a good idea to review the queries you use in SQL and seek feedback from other people on your team so you can improve them.

Avoid working in isolation, without knowing if someone has already done the same work as you or found better solutions. This exchange is important because it can help you guide your analysis, in addition to allowing you to learn more.

Participation in Discussions on Project Expectations and Objectives:

Try to participate in discussions related to the company's ongoing projects and analyses. This allows you to actively contribute, if possible, or simply stay informed about what is being done within the company.
