Background:
In Royal Decree-Law 6/2024, dated 6/11, IT procedures occurring within the scope of the municipalities affected by the DANA were recognized as work accidents.
And these IT processes were required to be coded as such by the corresponding doctor. In addition, both employees and self-employed workers who, on the date on which the IT occurred, were registered in a Social Security scheme, could access this protection.
In Royal Decree-Law 7/24, dated 12/11, this protection is maintained without requiring a minimum contribution period, and the medical coding requirement is also eliminated.
In Royal Decree-Law 8/2024, of 29/11, the mention that employees and self-employed workers can access the benefit is eliminated.
In addition, the start date of the IT is updated, changing 10/29 to 10/28/24.
When does it affect?
The regulation comes into force on 30/11/2024.
The effective date of the measures adopted is modified taking into account the effective date of 28/10.
In short, these measures seek to further protect workers, as well as provide a comprehensive and coordinated response for the recovery and reconstruction of areas affected by the DANA , supporting both individuals and local companies and entities.
